A Challenge From One Husband To Another

Gentlemen, I don’t usually write much nor do I think many of us read blogs much. With that being thrown out there, this will be kept short so I will pray if the Lord has a word for you in this that you will read and grab what the Lord has for you in this brief challenge that:

1. Is an issue for myself and ask for accountability in.
2. I pray that you will accept and begin to live out.

My wife recently wrote a blog on “Imposter Syndrome” where she describes it as follows:

“Imposter Syndrome: (my own definition) An inaccurate feeling of inadequacy and conviction that anything good perceived about you is not true. A fear that if others truly knew you they would consider you less-than & lackluster.”

Both of these feelings of fraud and inadequacy are lies from Satan that I feel we often do not try battle for them. Our wives are called out by God to be women who make a difference in Him and we need to be the mighty warriors for our wives in this. I find myself guilty many time of not supporting who my wife is in Christ, which intentionally or not, perpetuates the lies Satan is feeding her. Often times, if I am transparent, I say more intentionally harmful things in the 10% of our marriage we are fighting than I speak truth into her life in the 90% of time our relationship is good.

Men, what if we took two scriptures to heart:
1. “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry” James 1:19
2. “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” Ephesians 4:29

Research shows that on average it takes 66 days to create a habit. What if for the next two months we all focus on these two verses and challenge each other daily to put these two practices into affect in our daily lives? What would it look like if we helped combat these feelings of inadequacy and fraud- that I am sure many of our wives deal with to one extent or another? I would be willing to bet our wives would begin to live out more fully their potential in the Lord and our homes and children would be better for it.
